May I just say that making a collage with faces and limbs is a new thing for me. But with such cute peplum pieces shown on models I had to do it. There are just too many pieces here I wasn’t willing to get rid of, especially the Only Hearts Satin Striped Peplum Top and the Tinley Road Peplum Mini Skirt. The top features an unexpected fabric for a peplum accent and the mini skirt’s unique triangle shaped peplum are both examples of the varying designs for this trend. And this is just a small sample of the options out there. I found that TopShop and ASOS had the most variety and color options.
So are you a peplum on top or peplum on bottom kind of girl? If you have a boyish shape and lack curves, either can for work for you. If you have broader hips, a small peplum on bottom would be most flattering, so that the peplum can be the widest curve to your silhouette. I have a wide rib cage, and was convinced that the peplum trend was a no-go for my body shape after trying on a cute peplum top at H&M that made me look like a beast. Then I tried the Apiary Tank from Anthropologie which has a very understated peplum and hit at the smallest part of my waist. When I tried it, I wasn’t even thinking of the shape, I just liked the corset back, and now it’s my favorite top in my closet. Just goes to show you that it’s always worth trying different cuts of a given style because you never know what is going to look good on you unless you try on as many options as you can find.
