While I’m sure many of you are ready to be done with all things fashion week, this year, as always, there were some beautiful fall hairstyles prancing up and down the runway. Runway beauty is always a wonderful source of inspiration, especially for makeup, but as someone who regularly gets stuck in a rut with their hair (ponytail anyone?) it’s great to see photos of hair styled to be specifically paired with a fashion trend. If you’re going for a romantic, whimsical look then Dolce and Gabbana’s braided bun is for you. If you’re wearing mod ’60s style then go for Gucci’s half-up hairstyle.
What were the key trends for fall 2014 runway hair? ’60s inspired hair, middle parts, and buns – especially braided buns. My favorite hairstyles for this season are all feminine with a mixture of youthful, shiny locks and elegant updos. Most of these are relatively easy to recreate, which as a hair novice I really appreciate, and there are more than a few that would be date night worthy. Sexy hair is good hair.
Versace Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Beauty – Sleek, subdued Brigitte Bardot hair. The teased crown and shiny locks are perfect date night hair but reminds me of mini skirts, sweaters, and thigh high boots. Sweet and sexy.
Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Beauty – Dolce & Gabbana not only knows clothes, they know hair. They always do something beautiful and this time it was a simple braided updo; a middle part, a few wisps of hair around the face, and a braided bun.
Peter Som Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Beauty – Shiny and a little mussed, this ’60s mod bad girl look is easy to recreate. Start with a side part and for those who don’t have bangs you can sort of create the look by laying the hair across the forehead before pinning it down with a bobby pin.
Christian Siriano Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Beauty – While the other photos in this post are easy to recreate, this low heart shaped bun has me stumped. It’s absolutely gorgeous and chic with a middle part and slicked back locks but this might take multiple tries to master.
Elie Saab Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Beauty – Long and straight. If I knew my hair would come out looking this good, I’d do straight locks every day. This is perfection.
Laura Biagiotti Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Beauty – Another braided bun but with so much thought put into it. This look features a middle part and the ability to sweep each side back into a romantic and sculpted braided knot.
Gucci Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Beauty – Keeping with the disheveled ’60s vibe this season, Gucci models wore their hair in slightly messy half-up styles. It’s that sultry, I-got-caught-outside-while-it-was-drizzling look.
