Welcome to the month of menswear! Whether it’s trousers or blazers or polo shirts, women have been comfortably sporting menswear pieces for a long time; it’s a classic trend that is never out of style. But every few years it comes back with a bang, think the 90s with all those intense shoulder pad blazers. We happen to be in one of those upticks right now because there are a ton of cute male-cut pieces out there for ladies (a few of which we’ll play with today). And while it was hard to move on to a new trend, it must be said that capes + menswear is a fantastic combination. The super popular blanket cape would look just right with the two outfits below and even a more structured cape would work well with blazers so keep that in mind as we move through this month because experimenting with capes, ponchos and throws can continue into November.
Today we’re focusing on tailored wool blazers for a sleek menswear look. One outfit is a lot more casual than the other, with jeans instead of trousers and the second outfit is more of a work appropriate look that definitely can and should be worn outside the office. A button down is the right choice to stay in line with the menswear feel but you can go with cotton or silk. Two classic must-have colors for a button down blouse include cornflower blue and the tried and true white. Playing with the opacity, or lack thereof, with the shirt is one easy way to keep things playful and even sexy. With a blazer, button down, trouser base you’ll fit right into the boys club without abandoning feminine silhouettes or fabrics.

9. Calypso St. Barth CALYPSO PRIVATE LABEL Medium Metallic Je t’aime Pouch
This outfit is seriously chic. It’s just the right amount of luxe for menswear. Though the jewelry really makes a menswear outfit feel feminine, it’s the jacket’s beaded collar that makes this not your everyday blazer and trousers combination. Subdued and neutral tones keep the outfit classic menswear but also make all the sophisticated details really stand out. From the dark crimson lipstick to the crystal flowers on the hammered brass cuff, outfits like this are all about playing with masculine cuts and colors, and then accenting them with bold feminine accessories and makeup.

A casual menswear inspired outfit that is seriously cute for fall, bringing in seasonal touches with leopard print, plaid, and herringbone. This outfit shows you how to pair cool blues with warmer tones like wine, orange, and brown. I love that this particular blazer is a schoolboy style that has a cropped rounded seat, which gives it a more feminine vibe. If you’re lucky to work in a more casual office, this is a perfect work outfit, but it really is a go-to combination for a fall shopping trip.
