Welcome to February, the month of indulgence. Chocolate sales will be up, flower shops will explode with roses, the prettiest lingerie will be in store-fronts, and a glow of red and pink will fall over the lands. Basically this is the month to celebrate – yourself, your significant other, your cat, whatever. And how does one celebrate? Well, you could buy yourself presents, flowers, or you could bake some delicious chocolate treats. Mmmmm.
It’s true, you could easily buy a box of chocolates and be good to go but baking something just feels special. Whether you’re making it for your chocolate obsessed self (it’s ok, I’m here to enable you), or you’re making a treat for someone else, love is the most important ingredient in all baking. And I’m here to give you some inspiration. I went with some of the most decadent recipes I could find; six sinful chocolate desserts to try right in time for Valentine’s Day.
Dark Chocolate Tart with Blackberries and Hazelnut Praline | From The Kitchen – Luscious is the word that describes this dark chocolate tart. You have a chocolate crust and rich ganache filling paired with juicy blackberries, and sweet, crunchy hazelnut praline.
The Best Brownies In the World | Cravings of a Lunatic – Everyone likes their brownies a little different but what makes a brownie perfect in my world is just the right amount of moisture. A slightly gooey, chewy brownie is right up my alley.
Gluten-free Chocolate Cake | Jamie Oliver – This looks like straight up comfort food. An uncomplicated gluten-free cake with messy chocolate shavings and bright raspberry and chocolate filling. Yum.
Celebration Chocolate Cake | From The Kitchen – This sinful chocolate cake is a chocolate overdose but that rich flavor doesn’t just come from the cacao, it’s the amaretto and almonds that make this cake guilt inducing.
Chocolate Pot de Crème | A Cup of Jo – Is there anything more calming than sitting down with a bowl of chocolate? Heavier than mousse, creamier than pudding, chocolate pot de crème is one of a kind.
Recipe: Classic Mocha Cake by Black Star Pastry | Vogue Australia – A decadent cake sure to give you a little buzz. This cake is made with sour cream which makes it rich and moist and the coffee glaze is as beautiful as it is delicious.
