Fourth of July is this coming weekend so I hope all of you are ready to BBQ, watch fireworks, and get out of the house. For the past three years Dan and I have had a picnic in the park. It’s been extremely low-key but gluttonous, as many of our date/celebration meals tend to be. A cheese and meat platter one year with sangria, melon wrapped with prosciutto, more cheese, more meat and margaritas the next. We like to eat.
And while I could have made this entire post about food, I wanted to share some ideas that weren’t burgers and brats, ya know? This is about Fourth of July inspiration, not just pounding some BBQ. So how about a seriously festive lobster boil? Or focusing on celebratory desserts like a gorgeous and yet super easy strawberry cake? Whatever you do this 4th, be safe, be courteous (no pointing fireworks at people), and have a lot of fun. Oh, and stuff your face!
Celebrate Summer With Ali Larter’s Strawberry Mint Cake | My Domaine – Everyone loves a good strawberry dessert during summer. Juicy strawberries, fresh whipped cream, and delicious cake with a hint of mint. Plus, it’s a beautiful cake.
Fashion Toast Overalls | Who What Wear – Being comfortable on the 4th of July is crucial so overalls are a great choice, especially once the day cools off and the fireworks start. Add a pair of red sandals for a full red, white, and blue ensemble.
Our Backyard Mother’s Day Picnic | Freutcake – While many on the 4th of July will be spending their time BBQing, I love a good picnic. A few sandwiches, fruit, pie, punch. It’s so easy. If you need more picnic ideas, I’ve got your back.
Charlie Hi Top Converse – What’s more American than a pair of red Converse? Especially worn with a white tee and jean shorts? There’s a simple and always cute 4th of July outfit for you.
Red White and Blueberry Yogurt Popsicles | The View From Great Island – Not only do these look amazing, they’re all natural just blueberries, strawberries and greek yogurt. Gotta love something with no added sugars or dye.
Summer Entertaining Tips | Style Me Pretty – Instead of a picnic, how about everyone comes over for lobster rolls! An indulgent meal that feels like the epitome of summer.
