Last weekend Dan and I and some friends headed to Wenatchee for a weekend reprieve. It was basically three days of gluttony and sweating in the heat and it was GLORIOUS. Sadly I had no service in the desert so I basically just gave up on technology and didn’t take any pictures. Before we got to the land of no service, we made a pit stop in Leavenworth for brats and beer at München Haus, a beer garden.

Before chowing down however, and maybe to make us savor our food that much more, Dan snapped some shots of me in my new mirror watermelon shades and black Dolce Vita sandals from Moorea Seal. This was a pretty painless shoot, I guess it pays to take photos in towns teeming with tourists with their own camera’s strapped around their necks. And afterwards to reward our hard work, we chilled in the beer garden. I had the beef frank smothered in mustard and relish and Dan had the kielbasa. They were both delicious and I highly recommend the apple cider kraut and a pint of kolsch.

My weekend outfits in Wenatchee ended up being a billion times more casual than this but I wanted to show ya’ll a day trip outfit with these cute sandals and burgundy blouse. Yes, you can wear burgundy in summer. In blouse form it dresses up a fairly simple outfit. The shorts I borrowed from Mom because guess who doesn’t own shorts? Yep, I do not wear shorts and the very fact that they’re showing up on the blog is a big deal because the oh horror of pale legs! Agh! But it’s for the sake of the blog and to show you that dressing up a pair of shorts is pretty easy. Dressy sandals, black shorts, nice blouse, stunner shades. Your perfect day tripping summer outfit.

Can you guess the main reason why I love these sandals? If you guessed because they’re black then you’re right. I don’t buy many sandals, and the sandals I do have are borderline too casual for a nicer summery outfit, which meant when I wanted to wear an outfit with black, I had a shoe crisis. Do I break out my closed toe flats? Ugh. WELL. Crisis averted because these Dolce Vita sandals are wonderfully chic and modern…and black! And they’re really comfortable because the strap is similar to that of a stretchy hair tie. One thing to mention, like most leather sandals these babies need to be broken in, so make sure to wear them a few times before trekking anywhere otherwise you’ll get blisters #notetoself. Other than that, these sandals made me feel resort ready, poolside with drink in hand.

I’m on a serious mirrored sunglasses kick. It totally makes my day to wear them. But I’m not selfish. I’m that friend who insists that all her buddies try on her cool shades like, “you have to try these on, everything changes color and it makes the world so much happier!” Wearing these Moorea Seal sunglasses is like being inside a watermelon. And turns out that is a really comforting thing. But aside from making the world look vibrant, I love the flattering cat eye shape. My other pair of mirrored glasses have square frames, but these feel retro and fun. So you have the retro shape, clear frame, and mirrored lenses, talk about the perfect summer shades, though you can bet your booty I will find a way to wear them in the fall too.
