I’ve discussed pre-fall outfits a lot recently. You know, that time when it’s not quite warm enough to wear shorts and tees but a coat isn’t necessary either. For many of us it’s kind of an awkward time, but also a great time to show off your stunner pieces without worrying about outerwear. Don’t get me wrong I love me some high quality outerwear, Burberry, yum! But in real life I’d almost always rather go without a coat. Especially when I have a chance to show off some boho velvet magic!

Velvet is my favorite fabric aside from lace, and like lace it feels so perfect for fall. I wish I could rock romantic velvet and lace pieces all the time but I have to confess that I actually borrowed this dress from my Mom. Yes, I am jealous that it lives in her closet and not mine, but this hat called for a boho look and my wardrobe was seriously lacking. When my mom showed me this dress, I immediately knew that it was the one. It instantly reminded me of the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet. So freaking pretty. Dear Free People, this dress is a winner. Comfortable, beautiful, and velvet!

So how about the rest of this look? Well first off, I love the simple infinity cuff. It’s adjustable so it fits perfectly and it’s also one of those pieces that’s so versatile that I throw it on to spruce up any outfit, including t-shirts and yoga pants. I’m really getting into this jewelry thing and I’m finally starting to fill out of my collection with pieces I’ve wanted for a while, like this layered necklace. I was very excited to see that Moorea Seal had a few layered pieces to choose from, but this one was my favorite with its heavy crystal pendant and delicate upper layers.

Finally, let’s talk about hats. I’ve always admired girls who have the confidence to wear them, but wasn’t sure I’d have the guts to wear a wide brim hat. So I challenged myself by choosing the Morley hat from Moorea Seal and have come to really like it. It’s one of those accessories that instantly adds personality to your outfit. It’s slightly sassy and if you follow me on Snapchat (styleandcheek) you’ll see what I mean. Hats just bring things out in people. Fun things. Basically, if you’re looking rock a boho velveteen princess look this fall, find yourself a playful hat and some velvet to take things up a notch.
