I have a confession to make. I’ve been hiding these riding boots from you guys. Outside of summer I wear these boots pretty much every day, so they’ve seen a lot of action and I didn’t think they looked good enough to share. And while many of the outfits I’ve shared are truly authentic, like last month’s which I’ve worn many times and even on NYE, sometimes I’ve made up other outfits last minute to avoid putting these less-than-gorgeous boots on the blog.
But screw it, this outfit is something I wear all the time. A real Julia outfit…for every day use. Are the boots coming apart? You bet they are! Do I wish I had a bunch of other boots to pair with my outfits. Definitely. And one day I hope that happens, but until then I will continue to wear my insanely comfortable riding boots and say to hell with, “riding boots are out this year in favor of over the knee boots”. Though I gotta admit black over the knee boots would look KILLER with this outfit. Like, excellent.
I had a day recently where I went outside and I swear I had a vampire moment. Like full on AHHH WHAT IS BURNING MY RETINAS? freakout. I’m officially never leaving home without sunglasses, even in winter, because you can’t play games with sunshine. Enter these delicious red sunglasses. Yes, I have quite a few shades already (mas, please!) but hey, these babies are red. At first I thought hmm, maybe I shouldn’t wear these sunglasses with a red blouse and red lips, but it turns out I like it. It may not work on redheads but if you have black, brown, or blonde hair it’s a good look. I like the matchy matchy.
The standout piece of this outfit is definitely the red tee from Free People. I waited to jump on this for what felt like ages and finally went for it when it was on sale during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I am so glad to have a red blouse in my possession, especially one with a little lace, sheer, and high neck detailing. Even though it’s pretty covered up, the lace and keyhole detail make it a really sexy shirt. The only other shirt I found with a very similar vibe was Free People’s Primrose Tee, which is on sale right now. The Sheer Dreaming Top is also a good choice with its sexy crochet front.
Real quick I gotta talk about this ring. As you know I’m building up my ring collection and dayum this chunk of stone and metal was the right decision. I’ve had my eye on it for a while because of course a ring called “Magic Woman” sounds exactly like what I was missing. When Dan and I went to Moorea Seal I made a B-line right for it to see if it looked as cool in person as it does online. And yep, it’s a stunner! It feels very Shakespearean. Maybe even Lady Macbeth-ish, all decked out in rings right before she goes insane with her ‘hand washing’, “Out, darned spot! Out, I say!” You may look badass in your witchy rings but use your power for good, people!
