Our drive down to Hood Canal featured rain, traffic and neurotic music ADD from Dan. I was happy to read Lucky Magazine and nom on a lox bagel, but by the time we arrived Dan and I were starving and in need of a margarita (which ended up being served in glasses so big and heavy I needed two hands to raise my drink for a toast). My Mom, nephew and I followed this up with some indoor wiffle ball batting practice – Mom claims that I was crushing every pitch because she’s an “amazing pitcher,” but I know it was really because I’m secretly phenomenal at violently swinging plastic weapons. Which I must get from my Mom, since she almost took out the ceiling fan when she was up to bat. Sunday, the sun came out and it ended up being warm enough to swim! My nephew has been taking swimming lessons for two months and he was in the water longer than all of us. Such a champ. Other than enjoying what sun we could and relaxing, we spent the weekend eating. The crabmelt and steamed clams on Sunday were highlights. Yes “crabmelt” means there was cheese… whatever, we were on vacation – it’s allowed… :)
