Dashing Stripes from Sugarlips

Last week I was so excited to receive my very first gifted item from Sugarlips! They are a hip, urban clothing company located in Los Angeles, CA that work with bloggers, like myself. Thank you Sugarlips! I wore the Dashing Stripes top practically all weekend because it was so comfortable, to the point where Dan asked me why I was lounging in bed still wearing it. Please tell me someone else does this with new clothes? You can’t really help it, you’re just excited to have a new piece. This is my first gifted item and I will always put a c/o after the link to a gifted item.

I ended up wearing the top to a comedy show this weekend at The Parlor (thanks to a last minute invite from my friend Emily!) where we saw Robert Kelly, who played Louis C.K’s brother in the first season of Louie. We sat right in front, in the line of fire – Dan got made fun quite a bit and even got accused of looking like a blogger. ;) (as if that were an insult!). We ended up meeting him after in the green room and he turned out to be a really nice guy, though Dan outed me as the blogger in the relationship and I embarrassingly tried to explain, “no, not chic. Style and Cheek…as in cheeky?”

Dashing Stripes Top c/o Sugarlips, black sweater, Skinny Skinny High Riser black jeans from Madewell, Lavender Dynemite sandals from Steve Madden (other colors), owl necklace.

This was right as Dan was telling me there were probably ticks and mosquitoes in the bushes. I was not pleased.

You all know how big of a fan I am of black so I made sure to put in some color with the lavender heels. The entire outfit is comfortable and laid-back. I recently convinced my Mom to buy an orange and wood beaded chunky necklace and would love to steal that to wear with this top because of the uneven stripe print. But the evil eye owl necklace I am wearing here was given to me by my Aunt Nancy who said she got it sometime in the 70’s in Greece. It’s my good luck charm and I love the chain with this top. Another look that would look cute would be to tuck the shirt into a pair of high rise jeans (like these) with a neon or pastel belt and either a blazer (easy) or a funky jacket. Oh the possibilities!
