Every so often I randomly think of this video: Love Your Tree. Eve Ensler, who wrote The Vagina Monologues, recounts a visit to Africa and a conversation she had with a woman she met about how we view our bodies. It’s an amazing, amusing clip, and probably the only thing I’ve seen that really captures that “love yourself vibe” without being too emotional or cheesy. Her “Love. Your. Tree.” message goes beyond loving yourself, but forgiving yourself for being human. I know I’m supposed to be all entertaining and giving style advice and showing you pretty clothes but, everyone needs to know about this clip. It is exactly how more serious topics should be presented. You aren’t going to get to me through tears. Give me a humorous anecdote to keep things in perspective.
