Happy 1st Birthday Style and Cheek

Today is Style and Cheek’s first birthday and in order to justify drinking an entire bottle of champagne tonight, here are some thoughts on the last and the coming year.

When I started Style and Cheek a year ago, I saw it really as just one early step towards a career in fashion journalism. But over time it’s become much more than that. This blog is my baby. I love working on it and live to make it better. Through Style and Cheek I’ve become so much more confident in my opinions and comfortable with openly being myself.  I’ve realized that this is what I want Style and Cheek to be all about – inspiring others to be unafraid to be themselves but also unafraid to better themselves.

That said, and looking towards 2013, I want year two to be even more ambitious than last year. Here are a few goals for 2013:

Build partnerships with other bloggers – I’m really excited about this one. My blogger friend Jamie from The Lady and The Beard and I have decided to do weekly collaboration posts which we will reveal more about later.

TV show recaps and wardrobe cataloging – Along with Hart of Dixie recaps I am going to start Pretty Little Liars recaps. It’s a total guilty pleasure show, but I love the clothes and figure I will be helping those who want to know more about the clothes worn by the characters.

Dan’s monthly guest posts – He will continue contributing a monthly piece to Style and Cheek and be our go-to man for Men’s Style (but will also focus on food).

More product reviews – One of my most viewed post and a favorite of Dan’s is the These Boots Were Made for Marching post. Of course people want some sort of basis of comparison so why not go out there are try things out.

There are a lot of other smaller ideas but I mostly want to tell you that Style and Cheek will always be changing and evolving. It’s changed so much just in a year and will continue to do so in the future. I hope that you’re just as excited to move forward with Style and Cheek as I am.

Cheers to another year!
