Little Things I’m Loving

I haven’t done one of these in forever but I should make a point to do ‘Little Things I’m Loving’ more often. Even though my life isn’t insanely interesting right now, there are things I’d like to share with you. Ideally, I would share high quality images with you guys because I know I appreciate quality on blogs, as I’m sure you do, but right now I have to make do with what I have. I hope you don’t mind. The things I’m showcasing are still special even if they aren’t being showcased in IMAX 3D.

Who else is excited for Spring?! My Mom and I went to University Village the other day to spend her H&M gift card. We also wandered into MAC and Sephora for some makeup time which was, in my opinion, the highlight of the day. Well, that and enjoying the sunshine because we love sunny days in Seattle.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat: This was worth the money. The concealer I’ve used for a few years now definitely “concealed” but it also tended to look like I was wearing too much. I know other people love Touche Éclat so much, and I figured it might well be worth using my gift card on. It does exactly what I want it to, brightens everything, covers the dark shadows, and isn’t heavy. I used three little dots and was good to go. It’s so wonderful. I’m officially addicted.

Benefit Cosmetics Stay Don’t Stray: You can kinda tell in the next picture that my eye primer is too yellow so I wanted to try some primers. Kelly from Sephora put a few on the back of my hands and this is the one I liked best. It was barely noticeable, I loved the color and the feel. I have incredibly bright veins on my eyelids so I knew I wanted enough coverage to cover those. They changed the applicator for the Stay Don’t Stray and Kelly was sooo excited about it. I guess before it was in a pump form and you know how pumps always put out way too much product per pump…So Benefit listened to the negative reviews and changed it to a little sponge brush, which I think works great. And I love how it looks! It looks very fresh, especially paired with the Touche Éclat, fresh faced and clean.

Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! (I gave my Mom the mascara that also came with this package): I put this on my brow bone and cheekbones yesterday and initially I couldn’t really tell it was there except for a slight sheen. This could be due to the fact that the product is so lightly colored and I am so lightly colored that it really just blended in with my skin tone. If you’re a little tanner it would probably be very nice, but I could take it or leave it. I did like that is easy to apply (just swipe and go), and if I caught the light a certain way it showed a nice glowy cheek. The regular size is quite large and chubby, which would be better for cheekbones and bigger areas but I prefer the tiny sample size for my brow bones.

I’ve been looking so angry in these self shots lately, haven’t I? The sun was really bright so I blame that for the squint. My face is SO PINK and my brows need to be waxed, oh man. But the reason why I am posting this is for that brilliant red on my lips! The girls in Sephora pleaded with me to try a red lip as an experiment. I’m so shy, I never wear a red lip. It’s just so different from that I’m used to. But this is Cruella from NARS and it is the perfect red for my skin tone. If you are super pale with pink undertones then try Cruella because it might just be the best red for you as well. Ba-bam! I don’t even care if it’s on me, that’s a gorgeous red.

Here is my not incredibly impressive picture of a cherry blossom tree. But this is important because it’s blooming right outside our kitchen window! Plus, it’s sunny out and sun can instantly improve my mood. As long as gray and gloomy has left the building, I’m a happy camper.

Pretty stationary. If you aren’t naturally inclined to send hand written notes, the key is to have a set of stationary you really love. My Mom gave me the monogrammed fleur de lis set for my birthday and I bought the bright pink and gold thank you cards at Molbaks. Not sure where the monogrammed set came from but the set I bought at Molbaks are Crane & Co.

I took the plunge and bought the dress I’d fallen in love with. I’m so happy with my purchase. Unfortunately, it’s already sold out in red! I’m glad I bought it when I did. If I could, I’d buy it in navy and black as well. It fits so well and is so comfortable. I’m really looking forward to wearing this when the weather is warmer. Now I need leopard flats!

Little bottles of alcohol as party favors! Dan and I went to my friend Emily’s birthday brunch this past weekend, and when everyone was done eating she passed around a box that was full of different bottles of alcohol and cigars all tied with bows. How freaking adorable of an idea is that?? Grown up party favors. I love it. Someone took the Bombay Sapphire I had my eye on, but vodka will work just fine.

This is 90% for Betty’s bitch face. Look at her. The youngest boy looks like a ghost child from Supernatural, ready to spill blood. I’m a little horrified. But Betty looks amazeballs. Angry face FTW. I guess she’s not midnight reddiwhipping anymore.

Mad Men is so soon and I am so very excited. Dan and I started rewatching the series from the beginning but we need to rewatch Season 5 before the next season starts. Dan has probably rewatched the series 4-5 times. He’s obsessed. But I have to say, it’s crazy to go from Season 5 back to Season 1 and see how everyone has changed so dramatically. I prefer early Don over Don with Megan, even though he was a much bigger bastard. And opposite of that, I love Peggy now versus eager, naive, pushy Peggy from Season 1-2. You need to check out these pictures if you haven’t already. Pete’s sideburns are out of control!
