HSWI April | Florals

The saying goes, “April showers, bring May flowers,” but on ‘How She’d Wear It’ we’re bringing you flowers one month early. The trend for April is florals and I’m sure you’re channeling your inner Miranda Priestly Florals for Spring Groundbreaking and thinking, “Florals? For spring? Ground breaking.” but how can we deny our love of florals? Especially when there are so many gorgeous prints available right now, you just can’t ignore them. And they’re not just your 90’s floral print grunge mini variety either.

Dolce and Gabbana practically rule florals but don’t fret, you don’t have to break the bank. There are plenty of other bold, romantic, wintery florals with black backgrounds, and big, vintage rose prints. They’re out there and they’re beautiful. It’s wonderful when vintage wallpaper can actually translate into a pretty, modern piece in your wardrobe.

If you’re not a fan of anything vintage, how about something tropical? H&M has a collection right now that is all tropical prints and I’m in love. Not only are the pieces unique (I found a monkey on one of the dresses!), they’re also part of H&M’s CONSCIOUS Collection. The selection of tropical prints extends beyond the “green” at H&M and into pieces like the Modcloth Search for a Perch Dress that looks it’s straight out of Rio. Definitely the way to make a statement.

I know I poked fun at the 90’s floral mini’s earlier but if there was ever a time to bring it back, it would be right now. You don’t have to wear doc martens to pull this tiny floral print off, your options are a lot more ladylike than babydoll. This might be the easiest print to add to your wardrobe if you aren’t ready for a full on bouquet in your closet. You could start with floral printed pumps – remember this post? Who knows, maybe you’ll love floral so much that you’ll be mixing your prints and schooling us in the art of print matching.
