When I first started the ‘How She’d Wear It’ floral prints series, I mentioned going over how to wear winter florals into spring – that’s what I’m here to do today. These aren’t so much “winter” florals, but definitely darker florals that you may wonder how to wear when the sun is shining. Just because the sun is out doesn’t mean you have to eliminate black from your color palette. Trust me, I wear black year round, and believe me a little darkness to your florals is just fine.
So how do we make those dark florals suitable for sunny days? Bring out the color. Your floral pattern is bound to have some color in it, so bring it out with other parts of your outfit. I’m talking everything from main pieces to your accessories. These are basic combos so feel free to go crazy with jewelry. Some floral prints can be taken into spring by adding different textures. Lighter leather or suede is great for these prints, as well as denim – don’t denim jackets instantly make you think of spring and summer? Don’t be afraid to clash with prints. Winter reminds me of structure and matching, but spring/summer is casual and you can get away with clashing.
