I wish this ‘How She’d Wear It’ could go on for more than just one month. There are so many outfits I want to put together for this trend but I had to choose and my mind went straight to dresses. I’ve started to wear more day dresses recently and have found that I have a much harder time putting together a day dress outfit than a dress for a night out. For some reason I get stuck on what accessories to wear with a day dress so I’ve pretty much stuck to a formula of a simple piece of jewelry, ladylike bag, and ballet flats. Evening dresses, for me, are much more fun to play around with, though with this color I think I could have fun day or night.
Any variation of the pendant necklace, classy bag, and flats is perfect for feminine day dresses. Just because the combo is simple doesn’t mean your accessories have to be. Add color or print to the outfit with polka dot flats, or instead of a cream bag pair the dress with a jewel tone bag. I just went with what I would be naturally drawn to – simple and classic pairings with just a little fun, like two-tone polka dot flats. The dress on the left would also look great with black suede ankle booties, and throw on a chunky sweater with the dress on the right and add tights for Fall.
J.Crew was the inspiration for this collage. They showed these dresses as bridesmaid dresses in their recent Lookbook and I couldn’t get over my love for this color. Instead of going bridesmaid-y with this collage I put together a combo for a night that could go anywhere. From dinner, to drinks, to dancing, to a wedding. Gold looks amazing with berry shades so accessorize according to your destination.
