This post felt quite fitting with Halloween coming for us next week and all the wonderful scary and cheesy horror films making me think of red red red! Or maybe it’s the joys of apartment living that’s making me see red. The neighbors upstairs think their newborn needs to listen to lullabies all night at a fairly ridiculous noise level. Our washing machine broke this week but after a few phone calls and visits from the maintenance man they replaced it with a washer from a different apartment, thank goodness. And last night we went to sleep knowing there wouldn’t be warm/hot water this morning because for the 5000th time the apartment has shut off the water to fix problems. This is just a few of the many problems I have with this apartment. I’m totally cool though, I don’t want to go Carrie on anyone or anything…but let’s just say I am beyond excited to get our booty’s out of this place. So red clothing! Red is beautiful. Red is powerful.
Red is one of those colors that’s loved by many but rarely worn. I was always told to only wear red when you can handle the attention because yes, red is powerful and sexy but it can also be seen as aggressive. Even red lips have people on the fence – it either can look classic or trashy. I love red lips but usually I have to feel super confident to wear it, though red can be a source of confidence as well. In college I had a big paper and presentation to do with a friend who I had been fighting with. I was already anxious about the presentation, but also feeling tense and upset about the relationship. The day of the presentation I decided to wear a crimson blouse and basically “fake it till you make it”. And it worked! Somehow, even though I was still ragey at this guy, we both got good grades and according to the teacher had fantastic chemistry. So there you have it, red is truly a “power color”. It takes confidence to wear it but once you do, it can totally empower you.
