I might as well warn you that I’m in full holiday mode, wishing that I could decorate like crazy, and don a silly Christmas sweater. Even though we’re still in November my brain is already in mid-December. Maybe that’s because I’m not the biggest fan of Thanksgiving, or maybe I’m just that crazy about Christmas, either way all the fun and fancy events during the holidays are the perfect chance to break out what you don’t normally get a chance to wear or may not feel comfortable wearing the rest of the year. With Thanksgiving coming next week I figured it was a good time to put some fancier cobalt options together. And hush up if you’re feeling like a Grinch, soon the holidays will be over and I’ll be back to posting what to wear on a day of shopping or to the office. How riveting! In my family we tend to dress casual for holidays so these outfits dress up cobalt to varying degrees whether you’re looking for something that’s fit for a cocktail party, a warm, cozy night, or a fun and quirky adventure. Depending on the shade of cobalt you can wear warm or cool colors so don’t feel limited to pair it with black, although you know I had to throw some black in there. It sexifies any color.
Last month we talked about classic patterns, which included plaid. Well this outfit has plenty of patterns to go with a bold cobalt shirt. The combination of patterns is fun by itself but I really love mixing different shades of feminine color with cobalt. Super bright and playful pink with gold accessories contrast the bold cobalt shirt. This outfit is fun and preppy with lady-like and cheeky accessories. Perfect for a family party, just bring some champagne!
Black and cobalt are a perfect night time combo for a fun cocktail party with friends. I love that this shirt has a lacy peplum torso, almost turns this into a sexy french maid outfit, complete with knit stockings and pumps. Add a bright purse and ladylike coat and you’ve got a great party outfit that will turn heads.
This one is so cozy, the mix of textures and earthy tones is super warm, but the cobalt dress is there to cool it right down for winter. This outfit is a little more versatile than the others – it fits in just as well at a company holiday party as it would for a family Thanksgiving. Plus I can’t pass up any chance to incorporate oxblood into any outfit. Oxblood and cobalt forever.
