My boyfriend Dan and I finally found a new apartment! We move in February 1st, so I have a few weeks before I need to think about the logistics of moving, but I’m so excited to have a place of my own. This means that I can actually decorate my living space. There is no way to explain how big of a deal this is to me – when I first moved in with Dan two years ago it was not us moving in together it was me moving in with him, to his space. And we had a roomie, Dan’s friend Harry. Between the two of them they had so much furniture that we didn’t need anything. So yeah this place that we’re currently in has never felt like my home. But that’s all about to change. Bring on the decorating.
I’m really lucky to have a boyfriend with good taste. AKA my taste. Hardwood floors, classic lines, traditional style? Yes, please. Chesterfield couches? Beautiful. Super modern? Bleh, no thank you. But where do we disagree? Well, what a surprise, Dan has super masculine taste, and shies away from the colors I really love; violet, ox-blood, fuchsia, turquoise, gold, etc, etc. My bedroom growing up had purple walls, a sky ceiling with clouds, and art collages everywhere so yeah I’m a fan of color. It might take some convincing for him to let me girl up one or all of the rooms. Now I’m not talking about vomiting pink all over everything. I’m talking about a grown ass lady’s apartment. It’s going to be a lot of fun but I know it’s not going to be easy, particularly rug shopping with Mr. Picky. But whatever, I’m so pumped right now nothing can rain on my parade! Which is why this is the perfect time to break out a Fancy Friday for some of my dream apartment pieces.
