The closest thing in nature that matches radiant orchid is a winter sunrise when the sky has just started to brighten and the clouds turn hazy purple then gradually more pink as the sun comes up. I’ve always thought that winter sunrises were the most beautiful, especially when there’s snow. Just like sunrises bring life to the bleakest days, radiant orchid is the perfect color to warm up your winter and spring wardrobe. This slightly muted color is great in large quantities and doesn’t overpower an outfit the way other bolder colors can, it’s also a great accent color for those who aren’t big into color. Here are two radiant orchid looks for those who love Pantone’s color of the year for 2014.
1. AllSaints Walker Leather Biker Jacket
2. J.Crew Sophie Crossbody Bag
3. Topshop Asymmetric Brim Fedora Hat
4. TOM BINNS Neon Crystal Earrings
5. RAG & BONE Violet Jean Leggings
6. ModCloth Cat-Ch Of The Day Top
7. Rag & Bone Kinsey Suede Boots
For an outfit full of radiant orchid it seemed right to stay within my comfort zone of grays and blacks, while choosing some very luxe pieces in leather and suede. This isn’t your regular casual day outfit (if that’s what you’re looking for wear some chucks and a sweatshirt), this combo is a step up from your day-to-day dress. Yes, it’s a cat shirt, and yes that’s fedora. Think wintery saturday day-drinking with friends. Who knows how long the party will last…
2. ASOS Leather Duffle Bag With Fringing
3. Topshop ‘Lux’ Velvet Earmuffs Burgundy
4. Splendid Stretch-Jersey Mini Dress
5. Modcloth Isn’t This Ice? Heel
7. Topshop Black Pinspot Sheer Tights
I’m having a hard time letting go of the super glittery pieces that inspired me during the holidays, but that’s alright because if they are worn right glittery pieces don’t have to be limited to just parties. I wanted to bring in some glitter and rhinestone to dress up this brilliantly colored, but fairly casual stretch-jersey dress. I also love the idea of matching radiant orchid with other related colors, like shades of pink and purple. It makes this ladylike outfit a little bit playful and a little offbeat.
