Hopefully you guys expected Valentine’s Day outfits for ‘How She’d Wear It’ because I would never give up the opportunity to do a post that revolves around this holiday. I love pink and red! My only wish is that there were more options in these colors that feature this month’s trend: sheer! You may be thinking, “Julia, sheer for Valentine’s Day? Won’t I look like a saucy inappropriate minx?” Well, no, unless you go sans underthings, which would be awkward for the rest of us. But saucy? Maybe, depending on how you choose to style the pieces. I’d say wearing sheer for Valentine’s Day is more along the lines of cheeky. A little heart here and there, maybe a little leather, just make sure you play around with different fabrics, patterns, and textures for the rest of the look. This is not the 90s, so I definitely recommend adding some edgy or more fun pieces to compliment your sexy.
1. Aerie for AEO Convertible Bralette
2. BCBGMAXAZRIA Crocodile-Embossed Envelope Clutch, Burgundy
3. Sugarlips Sheer Button Back Blouse
4. Alice + Olivia Dina Cutout Calf Hair and Leather Pumps
6. Elizabeth and James Metropolis Emerald Cut Stacking Ring
7. Elizabeth and James Northern Star Open Star Ring
8. Sass & Bide Checking In Stretch Leather Pants
This could be considered saucy. The style of this blouse is fairly conservative except that it’s sheer. Sheer is sexy but also lets you play with what you expose. You have an extra layer that is visible (i.e. your underthings) so you have a chance to make an impression; for this outfit I’ve added a black lacy bralette. Combining my two favorites, lace and sheer is a no brainer. I incorporated red and pink to keep it festive, but I had to do an edgy Valentine’s Day outfit to satisfy my desire for black. If you’re too shy for leather pants, fitted black slacks or jeans would work just as well. Remember, if you’re going to be this covered up (especially for chilly weather), don’t be afraid to spice up the outfit with different textures or accessories.
1. Tory Burch Tilsim Logo Heart Stud
2. Rebecca Minkoff Curbs Y Drop Necklace
3. My Heart Skipped Tights from ModCloth
4. MANGO Metallic Straps Sheer Dress
5. Zara High Heel Sandals With Ankle Strap And Platform
7. Coach Madison Small Sadie Flap Satchel In Saffiano Leather
This is the bright, fun, and cheeky outfit for Valentine’s Day. The best part about holidays like Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and even Easter, is that you’re allowed to be a little cheesy. That means bring out your heart shaped items and wear as much pink and red as you’d like. To keep the look from diving into ‘5-year-old-collecting-Valentine’s-day-cards’ territory I added neutral items such as a ladylike white coat, dark tights, and black pumps. The sheer dress is obviously the knockout attraction though, even beyond the color. It’s thin enough to give the illusion of see-through but really isn’t, if that’s not the definition of cheeky than I don’t know what it is. This is just a really fun look that would be a blast to wear.
