How She’d Wear It with Style and Cheek

HSWI February 2014

We continue our exploration of sheer wonderfulness with blouses. Button down blouses are sexy on their own, but still have that conservative feel, so a sheer button down is actually a very cheeky choice. Here are two ways to style your sheer blouse, dressed up and festive with a circle skirt, booties, and tights, or upscale casual with jeans, and fabric tote. Part of what makes this trend work is picking a fairly floaty blouse, one that isn’t too form-fitting, that playfully obscures (or reveals!) what’s underneath.

7. Spendid Jersey Circle Skirt

This is the exact outfit I wore on New Year’s Eve and I put it together last minute. My only desire was to wear that Black Watch, sheer blouse because it’s so gorgeous and silky. You can wear a camisole underneath the blouse but a balconette bra is a super sexy choice. This outfit combination was a little unexpected and not my usual silhouette but it worked, especially the little details like the statement necklace under the shirt collar. A lot of ‘How She’d Wear It’ outfits show how I would wear something if I could, but this is something I have worn and love. Every. Single. Piece. Love.

It’s the most girly time of the year. So why not channel the queen of ‘feminine-casual’ Olivia Palermo with this sheer blouse, jeans, and ballet flats. This shirt’s panels ensure that you don’t expose too much but still feel sexy. And like always with ‘How She’d Wear It’, it’s all about what you use to accent the statement pieces. Here I’ve gone with some slightly edgy accessories and blush pink accents. Feeling ladylike but also kinda bad-ass is empowering.
