Celebrating a New Job: Prosecco and Why We Need an Area Rug

I got a new job! Yep, after three years at Microsoft as a Web Analyst I decided to move on. I started my new job as a Content Editor for Expedia on Tuesday and have been chugging along in my home office ever since. It’s a work from home contract and so far so good. I finally washed my hair after two days so that’s good and I’m going to need to make an effort to socialize myself so I don’t go stir crazy. Did I say contract? I sure did. Why Julia would you take a contract with an end date if you were working a contract with no end date? Because I was done with my former job. There wasn’t anything else I felt I could learn from it and with no upward mobility it was time to find a job that could give me different experience. Even if that means I’m taking a big leap by working a short contract.

I’m so excited you guys! Who knows what’s going to happen next but I don’t feel stuck anymore. It’s extremely freeing to start something new and feel like what you’re learning will lead you somewhere. I just need to be proactive and keep my eyes open for new opportunities.

Last night Dan and I celebrated with a bottle of prosecco and a crab salad, along with an entire baguette. It was fatty and yummy. Later, while watching Moonrise Kingdom, Dan and I made decaf coffee and spiced it up with the homemade Kahlua my parents gave us for Christmas. At some point during the film Dan moved the bottle of Kahlua from the coffee table to the floor so he could see the TV. I had put my foot up against the table and when I moved it ‘BONK!’ I hit the Kahlua bottle with my heel and it exploded on our hardwood floor. Sorry mom! Twenty minutes and two rolls of paper towels later we finished cleaning the sticky mess along with the glass. We laughed it off but realized our couch is a little too heavy for this space and we desperately need a rug. Sounds like rug shopping is in the near future! This gets an exclamation point because shopping for home furnishings is basically the best thing ever!

better to have spilled on the hardwood rather then a rug…but now that you have had the big spill enjoy shopping for the rug that you will never spill on EVER!!!! :-) Congratulations on the new job, enjoy learning something new.

Nope, never ever! It will make Dan think twice about putting glasses on the floor near foot traffic though. Thanks Jeannine, and congrats on yours as well! The fourth floor lost the view of the mountains bc of that apartment going up so you still have the great view on your floor. :)
