Happy April everybody! This month on ‘How She’d Wear It’ we’re going to explore the lovely world of pink. Yep, all different shades of pink from bubble gum, to rose, to fuchsia and everything from pink accessories to pairing pink with pink. This week I chose two printed pink pieces and paired them with neutrals. It’s the easiest way to wear pink and is not at all intimidating for people who shy away from the feminine shade. The first look takes a casual pink Hawaiian style printed skirt and brings it to its logical place – the beach. But not to go swimming, more like to do some classy ocean-view shopping. The second outfit pairs a pink printed top with pink heeled sandals but you could go one step further and use a pink clutch if you’re feeling on the rosy side. Whatever you choose, we’ll have plenty of pink themed outfits for you to draw inspiration from as we continue through April.
Pink reminds me of spring and right now the cherry blossoms are all blooming and telling me that I should be outside, but sadly sunny days are still sporadic. Despite the weather not realizing that it’s playtime, the cherry blossoms and flowers keep coming. It’s time for the stores to expand their floral section and for you to bring out your floral patterned pieces. This floral skirt is a great piece for spring and summer, so long as you’re out in the sun. To make this look a little beachy, I decided to pair it with rustic white and brown pieces. I tend to shy away from browns but there is something about white and brown together that is automatically cool and laidback.
If the weather is still bipolar where you live, this patterned shirt is a great transition piece. The varying pinks paired with the cool blue calls to glasses of lemonade on the hotter days ahead, but because we’re not there yet, make sure you cover up. I’m a big fan of blazers but this one is a great match for the looser, more comfortable pants I’ve picked out. And lately I’ve also been a fan of ankle length pants with heels. This is a trend we’re going to see a whole lot of in the months to come and I’m happy about it. Who knew that exposing your ankles could look so fun and sexy? Overall this is a great 65 degree day look.
