Once I saw Lulu Frost’s post about their Mai “Tie” event with Bumble and Bumble I knew I had to write about headwraps and headbands. I fell absolutely in love with the hairstyles Bumble and Bumble created with Lulu Frost’s new headwraps. Everything from the ultra boho headwrap at the hairline to my favorite a crown braid braided into the headwrap. So what is the difference between headwraps and headbands? For ones made out of cloth, it is difficult to tell but a headwrap isn’t attached to itself and is either twisted or tied on the head and a headband literally a band that goes around the head. Simple enough. I prefer the freedom of a headwrap, particularly the ones with wire that make it incredibly easy to keep the wrap in place.
I’ve never been good at doing things with my hair other than blow-drying (I know… I’m super skilled!) so I’ve always seen headwraps and headbands as an easy way to make my hairstyle more creative. But with warm weather on its way it’s also a great way to get the wisps of hair out of your face, just add a headband or wrap to an updo and voila! Clean and comfortable. Don’t worry if you need a few bobby pins. The key to this hair accessory however is volume. I’ve never had a good hair accessory experience with a flat head of hair so tease the crap out of it, add dry shampoo, voluminize, whatever you can do to give the headband or wrap a good grip on your hair so it stays in place.
