I’ve started branching out with my lip color. I’m taking this beyond a date night or special occasion, which is typically the only time I ever pull out the lip color and consciously remember to re-apply. But I wanted to make an effort to become a pseudo lip lady. I’m envious of those ladies that can’t leave the house without their lips on. Maybe because I’m graced with a natural full color on my lips that I rarely feel the need to wear gloss or lipstick? Ladies wear lip color and I need to start jumping on the train now. So where does one begin if they are a lip novice? Lip Balm Crayons. These products are like using your trusty lip balm (which we non lip color wearers swear by) but give you the color payoff of a gloss or lipstick. Throw it in your pocket, purse, or clutch for easy reapplication throughout the day. Plus you get the added benefit of keeping your lips hydrated which I feel is a turn off for most ladies that refuse to wear lip color. Myself included. If these products leave me with soft lips AND color…well then I may already be hooked.
I’m starting with my favorite first. I picked this up on a whim at Target and it’s my current favorite. It’s matte which seems to be the trend these days when it comes to lips. No high shine here, which makes it perfect for day wear. Add a gloss over it for extra shine and oomph for evening.
This seems to be the biggest seller of lip balm crayons on the market. Clinique hits it out of the park with the chubby stick because it’s offered in 16 different colors!
The ever so friendly rep at Sephora showed me this product. I would have passed it by never giving it a second chance. Not only is the name fun but it helps to plump your lips and tastes like vanilla.

During an early morning stroll through Nordstrom I tried out some different products on the back of my hand and this one left an impression. It felt soft on my skin and didn’t leave a sticky residue behind. I tried it on and wore it around while I finished my shopping. To my surprise, 2 hours later it was still there and it never felt like I had color on my lips.
