4th of July is this Friday! I’m crazy excited even though I have nothing planned. Last year Dan and I had a picnic but this year I really don’t care what we do, I’m just happy to have the off to hang out and hopefully eat some good summertime food. We’re also going for classier 4th of July inspiration, no unappetizing (and cheesy) red and blue jello with cool whip. Here are some unique, subtlety patriotic things that I find inspiring for the 4th – red lips, red nails, a blueberry cocktail, heart-shaped pie, and an American flag as a window dressing.
Lemon Raspberry Pie Crust Hearts | Joy the Baker – My Mom used to make raspberry pie every year for the 4th of July. Usually because I begged her. I knew I had to put raspberry pie on this post but this recipe has a bit of a twist, a lemon twist! These lemon raspberry pie crust hearts are perfect for a 4th of July picnic.
Blueberry Mint Fizz Cocktail and Fruit Ice Cubes | Waiting on Martha – One of my favorite drinks is blueberry vodka, limes, and seltzer or club soda. This recipe sounded just as refreshing and delicious but more fun. It calls for St. Germain and fruit filled ice cubes, and the blueberries make it festive without being over the top.
Mac Dangerous | Harper and Harley – On 4th of July I want my makeup to be as low key as possible. This red lip and barely there cat eye is perfect for whatever you have planned from picnics to BBQs to firework watching.

When I saw this room I loved the look but wondered, is it weird to use a flag as a curtain? Or patriotic? Is this even allowed? I really don’t know but I do like how this looks.
