When Jamie and I were discussing the inspiration for this post we realized that yoga dresses aren’t actually a thing. When I asked her what she meant she sent me this really cute Salutation to Savasana dress from lululemon, but sadly options like these are few and far between. You can find some dresses on yoga websites but often when you go to an athletic website you have athletic tops and pants but no dress section. This is something I find odd. Don’t you want athletic style dresses you can wear on a hot day or after your workout? I’m talking breathable fabrics. Lightweight. Simple. The look we went for this week is yoga dresses and sneakers. This can be an outfit to wear after a workout, running errands, or if you’re like me, to the nearest diner on a Sunday morning. Think simple and easy but still cute.

The ‘dress’ above is actually a tunic but I loved the look so much that I had to keep it. However there is a great solution to make such a short piece appropriate, even when you throw it on after a yoga class. The solution is to wear shorts underneath, similar to what you’d wear under a tennis dress, like these adorable ruffled shorts or these knit ballet shorts. I know, it’s a ballsy move. This casual look is perfect with some colorful Nikes, like these neon orange and pink retro sneakers. Then all you need is a tote (this one has a sequined bottom), some aviators, white nail polish, and a few rings.

A cotton slip dress is the easiest thing to throw on for running quick errands. I’ve always been a fan of the slip dress plus sweater combination because it’s comfortable and easy, yet still feminine. Chucks are the perfect shoe for this outfit because they’re classic and go with pretty much anything. With such a simple base you could take this outfit anywhere but I went with oversized sunglasses, a layered necklace, and a large tote which could also fit your workout clothes and gym shoes.
