Polo Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2014 collection makes me think of New England and the Ivy League. I’ve never been to New England but Ralph Lauren’s autumn look is very classy 1950s collegiate, and I associate that covered up, classic style with the Northeast. I imagine preppy 20 somethings wearing scarves and sipping lattes with colorful leaves scattered across the ground. Think Gossip Girl’s Serena van der Woodsen in her school uniform.
These outfits are pretty buttoned up, but somehow they’re really sexy. The color palette and cut of this year’s fall collection is edgy, even a little cheeky. These outfits are all pretty conservative as far coverage but they almost tease you with ironic little accents and sheer fabrics. If you wear one of these you’ll look like a respectable sexy lady who may or may not be up to no good.
Looking through this collection really reminded how in need for skirts and dresses I am. We are approaching leggings season and I really need to up my skirt game. Heck I don’t even have a little black dress, and the one below is basically perfect. It’s as simple as a dress can be with elegant details and a playful little flared skirt and slightly puffy sleeves. Perfection.
This fall season look for collared dresses, plaids, and pieces that can be layered with tights, sweaters, and jackets. Polo Ralph Lauren’s collection has a romantic feel where one piece can make the entire outfit so make sure the pieces you’re purchasing this year are worthy of showing off.
