For the month of September, The Makeup Lady is kicking it off with essential primers! We’ve discussed different eye primers and some other primers have found their way into my Must Haves posts. It’s time to get real and discuss the essential primers for your everyday needs. If you’ve ever had your makeup done chances are you’ve had at least a primer or two applied. At the end of the consultation they probably tried to up sell with one of those said primers at which point you likely passed because let’s face it…why do you need a primer? You take your things and go home and find that each and every day the makeup isn’t exactly the same was it was in the store. How could that be? The primer! Primers can instantly change the look and feel of your makeup and are probably the furthest things from your mind when shopping for new beauty products. There are a million and one products out there and it’s not just limited to facial primers. Your hair and nails shouldn’t suffer from the lack of primers either.
Why do you need a primer, you might ask? It’s simple. Primers help to even the “surface” to which you will apply your product and help to lock in said product for the entire day. So if you are applying hair product your hair primer will help to even out the porosity so that your hair products apply evenly throughout. The same is true for foundation primers; locks in all the vitamins and moisture and helps to even out the foundation for a seamless finish. I use primers each and every day – five to be exact. It might seem like a lot but it can be the biggest difference on your overall look. Check out my five favorite primers that I use from head to toe.
Buxom Stick Around Eye Primer – I love a stick or cream based eye primer because I can work it into the crease and blend it in with my finger. Your finger is your best tool after-all.
Benefit POREfessional Face Primer – This isn’t the first time nor will it be the last time I mention this product. Just invest in it already.
Bite Line and Define Lip Primer – For the days when I opt for a bold red lip, this is my go to lip primer. Keep the lip color on your lips instead of feathering out onto your chin.
Deborah Lippmann 2 Second Nail Primer – Yes there are nail primers and yes they are essential. Apply before your base coat for a smoother application.
Bumble and Bumble Tonic Lotion – The first hair product my husband talked me into buying and his favorite go-to hair product.
