Before winter arrives and we’re all craving hearty stews, and pasta, and pho we should take advantage of as many fresh and cool dishes as we can. Just because Labor Day has passed doesn’t mean that summer is over, there are still two more weeks!
What type of food do I crave while the weather is (still) hot? Well, besides overdosing on salad, I want dishes that are either warm or cool but definitely NOT hot – the last thing I want is a hot meal on a hot day. So with all that in mind, here are a few recipes to help say goodbye to summer. You may notice that aside from the delicious heirloom tomato, peach, and burrata salad all of these dishes involve things on bread. Who doesn’t love bread?
Crostini is good year round but it’s the best way to showcase seasonal ingredients. This is the time of year to dress up a few slices of crusty grilled bread with some of seasonal fruit and veg. Avocado, grilled peaches, quartered figs, zucchini ribbons and corn. All of these are delicious when paired with a spread or cheese and bread. But honestly, what is summer without seafood? I’d love to end summer with a sunset, a beer, and a lobster roll.
