At this point I think my love of Burberry is well established. I talk about Burberry coats on here a fair amount because they are perfection, but the other day I was thinking, “what other designer pieces are must-haves in a dream closet?” After a Burberry trench, the next designer piece that came to mind was a Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress. As someone who has always been muscular on bottom and gone between bigger to smaller breasts, a wrap dress is the #1 dress I can count on for a perfect fit. I appreciate the wrap dress because it’s one that can look great on any figure at any age.
Diane von Furstenberg first introduced the wrap dress in 1974 and has since become the queen of that style, and while it may not always be the dress of the season, it is still a staple piece that always comes back.
Recently, my Mom and I went to Bellevue Square where there’s a fairly new Diane von Furstenberg store and we did a little window shopping. I’d never seen a DVF wrap dress in person and here’s what I have to say about them. They feel expensive. The materials feel quality, the dress sturdy and well made. In the pictures some of the prints look really ‘in your face’ but in reality they fit in with surroundings and while still showy, they look more flattering in real life vs. against a white background. Even in Nordstrom, my eyes kept returning to the berry colored silk-georgette wrap dress below. It’s just so beautiful. Same with the star print dress. Absolutely stunning. So if there’s a piece I’d add to the “designer must have” list it would be a DVF wrap dress. Her dresses are iconic.
