I usually like Coach’s seasonal collections because in general I’m simply a lover of Coach. Last year specifically they had one of my all time favorite collections which bags of my favorite color, purple. I drooled over them in the Fancy Friday – Coach’s Fall 2013 Handbag Collection post.
In the past it felt like Coach didn’t have a real theme for their seasonal collections and it was difficult to tell what was new and what was part of their regular selection of bags. So essentially, while they are all very nice and beautiful bags, they weren’t particularly inspiring. Reed Krakoff was deposed as King of Coach a little more than a year ago and Stuart Vevers has taken over as creative director. Could this be why I loved last years collection moreso than previous collections?
This is Stuart Vevers debut collection and this year the direction is clear. He’s going for the It girl with a blend of British ’60s and American ’90s vibes, with some Americana fringe and leather feather accents. It’s obvious that he’s greatly inspired by his roots but there is definitely a feel for the type of girl that would wear these pieces. Kudos to Coach this season. While I’ll buy their handbags any day it’s definitely worth noting that they have some very nice pieces of clothing. This is the first time that Coach has put together a Ready to Wear collection. Check out Coach’s magazine article, “An Englishman in New York – An Intimate Portrait of Stuart Vevers” to get a feel for Coach’s new creative director.
Coach Dakotah Fringe Flap Crossbody in Whiplash Leather – This would be my very first pick because of the efficient cross body shape and fringe detail. This bag has so much personality!
Coach Wool Houndstooth Parka – There were quite a few coats to choose from in this collection but this print and shape were too delightful to pass up. That massive houndstooth print with the red is so striking. I love it.
Coach Rhyder 33 Satchel in Soft Grain Leather – I appreciate the edginess of this bag. Coach is known for very classic silhouettes so the very specific details on this bag make it special.
Coach Silk Tie Collar Shirt – It was really difficult to choose between all the gorgeous blouses in this collection but polka dots with a tie collar wins. An understated blouse that would get a lot of use in any closet.
Coach Rhyder Flap Clutch in Workwear Leather – This clutch is SO unusual, it had to be part of this post. The mixed materials and color combination makes this a truly unique bag.
Coach Leather Biker Jacket – The thickness of the leather makes this jacket stand out. You know it will be quality based on that. A wonderfully sturdy piece.
Coach Felt Hat – Hats are so popular right now, but the leather feather detail really makes this one.
Coach Wool Workwear Skirt – Perfectly vibrant. This red is so true and the shape is simple. This skirt comes in a variety of colors and textures, and there is even a black leather version.
