Pinterest Picks – Christmas Tablescape Ideas

Like my Thanksgiving table posts in the past, I also like to put together a post on Christmas tablescape ideas. Setting the table for any big holiday meal is something I enjoy, and Christmas time might be my favorite of them all. The tradition of helping my Mom beautify the dining room table before Christmas dinner always felt special, and not just because we usually do this after the customary Amodt family tequila shot. Christmas tablescapes can be so insanely fun to put together because it’s ok to be cheesy or add a few novelty pieces here and there (like the deer in the last picture). Or you could go full on Bing Crosby and bring in romantic elements, or rustic, or even bright and sparkly pieces.

There’s just something very relaxing about putting a table together, taking time to flex that creative muscle. I like getting away from the hustle of the kitchen to go collect the right tablecloth, napkins, napkin holders, candlesticks. Visualizing where everything should go, the color palette, and then filling in the gaps with cute topical/relevant accents, salt and pepper shakers here, another votive there. Like putting together an outfit, you’re taking a vision in your head and making it come to life. Styling across the board is a very similar ritual; you’re trying to create a magical, special setting to share with family and friends that contributes to high spirits during dinner.
