This is why I don’t make promises. Last week I said that my Valentine’s Day gift guide would be my last V-day related post but forgot that I was going to make this week’s ‘How She’d Wear It’ a little festive as well. My bad. I couldn’t do HSWI without adding a little lovin’ to these outfits. We’re talking polka dots this month and here’s my advice for you: One, larger, colorful polka dots do not have to read preppy. They can be very chic if paired smartly. And two, mixing polka dots with other prints (like leopard) can make for a very fun combination. We have two very different polka dot inspired outfits today with date night vibes to show you that no matter your style, you can easily incorporate polka dots into your wardrobe. They add just the right amount of playful sass to your style.
1. J.Crew Collection Icon Trench Coat
3. H&M Blouse With A Flounced Hem
4. Ted Baker Distinguish Rose Crosshatch Crossbody
6. Warby Parker Raglan Pearled Tortoise
7. Boden Wow Pencil in Tropical Punch Spot Jacquard
Trade in your traditional solid color pencil skirt for a tropical pink polka dot one, and any outfit goes from business appropriate to “I would like a glass of sparkling, please, and um where is the dance floor?” What’s more romantic and fun than blush pink? It helps that those gold heels are ready to party but don’t think that a pencil skirt automatically means understated office attire, this pencil skirt here is an attention grabber, sure to show off some killer curves. Keep up the playful vibe with floral accents on a winter floral print clutch and showy earrings.
2. Rebecca Minkoff Mini Love Cross Body Bag in Watermelon
3. BaubleBar Pave Pearl 360 Studs
4. Wildfox Catfarer Deluxe Sunglasses
6. Mango Polka-dot Cropped Top
7. Lipsy Clara Leopard Print Barely There Heeled Sandals
This is the cheekiest look I’ve put together in a while, and definitely one I wish I had the balls to wear. It’s not the most traditional choice, but this could absolutely work as a kickass Valentine’s Day outfit. I really love the crop top plus midi skirt combination, it’s really fun and flirty. And that’s the essence of any V-Day ensemble – you don’t need a classic red dress to be Feb. 14 appropriate, just go for the attitude/vibe. A few pops of pink and a leopard print accent and wherever you end up, your date will be the envy of every other guy in the room.
