Beauty Basics with Jamie from Hello There, Lady

Any time there is an award show on I fangirl over the pre-show redcarpet looks. I live for a good fancy look. Head-to-toe glam when it all comes together, the heavens open up and angels sing because it’s so perfect. Most looks are hit or miss and I could take hair from one, makeup from another and a dress from a third. The past Golden Globes I was totally in love with Rosamund Pike’s look. This woman gave birth weeks prior and looks stunning, flawless, and beyond gorgeous. The complete package. For the sake of our weekly beauty posts we are going to focus on her flawless complexion. To balance her ethereal white gown, makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis wanted to create a smoky eye and neutral face focusing on a navy and cocoa color palette.

First and foremost it’s about creating the flawless complexion. Choose something that will add moisture and yet provide enough coverage. BareMinerals Complexion Rescue is the perfect solution. Next it’s essential to bronze. As we’ve stated before it’s not about bringing the Jersey Shore to your face but rather a hint of color to help sculpt and add dimension to your face. Finish off the complexion with blush, such as the MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Blush in Flamingo Pink which is a hint of pink, touch of coral, and a tiny bit of warmth to keep it from being too much like bubblegum. It’s important to use the same brush for these two products. Why? It will help to give a blended, smooth look so you don’t see a layer of bronzer and a layer of blush.

When recreating the eyes it’s best to start with less and build up to the intensity that you need. Line the upper and lower eye with gray eye liner. Add a cream base, such as the Chanel D’ombre Luminous Long-Wear, blending from the lash line up to the crease. Use your finger to blend and get the application just right. Finish off with a navy shadow in the crease and outer corner to create depth and that extra bit of oomph that the eye needs.

Last but not least is a lip color to help keep the complexion neutral. A nude lip gloss for some shine and to enhance your natural lip color.

Recreate this look and come back to share how it turned out for you.
