If black is my go-to color for fall and winter, blue is my color for spring and summer. Try as I might, I just can’t seem to branch out into brighter tones. But when a shirt is as cute as this elephant print how you can say no, even if you were looking for something decidedly not blue when you walked into the store? And do you see those elephants? They’re half the reason why I bought it. Plus, it’s a really perfect summer shirt, with an adorably breezy trapeze style. But, it is still blue.
Thankfully for the first time in a while I’m actually wearing accessories, so I’ll rely on a few eye-catching bracelets, or some killer shades, or a bright purple bralette to provide a little color, and keep my look fresh. For years I was very utilitarian with my style and would basically go accessory-free, but I’m finally treating myself and accumulating pieces that I really love, like the ones featured in this post.
The two retailers whose accessories have my devout attention? Free People and Moorea Seal. These stores are laid-back bohemian chic from top to bottom but I’m particularly obsessed with their sunglasses. If I could, I would own a different pair of their shades for every outfit. These peachy rose gold mirrored sunglasses are by far my current favorite and I will undoubtedly spend all summer wearing them. The lenses are tinted and make everything well, rosey and bright and happy. I’m obsessed with them. Plus the fact that they are mirrored really wigs people out because they don’t know where you’re looking…cue evil laughter.
Beyond sunglasses, I’m also really into Moorea Seal’s jewelry selection which offers a ton of rustic hand-crafted pieces. This big dipper ear cuff is a great example of the playful, but chic jewelry Moorea Seal features. A constellation crawling up your ear. It’s amazingly unique and I love it. Then there are the bracelets. I’m usually not a fan of bracelets because I don’t enjoy the feeling of pulling bracelets off my wrist so I was delighted by these two pieces, one with a clasp closure and the other, a Moorea Seal original, with a hinged opening. So not only are they beautiful and secure, but easy to put on and take off. It’s amazing how different an outfit can look with one or two (or in this case four) choice accessories.
