Last year I broke down the 5 types of products to combat oily, summer skin. And while those are great, sometimes you just need a little bit more to fight off the summer heat wave. Let’s face it…your skin is not the same right now. My skin is in overdrive and it’s hard to deal. It’s producing more oil than usual (thanks summer heat!) and my makeup slicks off by the end of the day. If you’re like me you need some tips on how to fend off the oil and summer proof your makeup. It’s not all about waterproofing and long-wearing products. You can achieve your everyday look with the help of a few products and 3 simple tips
1. Mattifying Matters
Prepping your face is the best foundation to fighting off the oil slicks. A good mattifying moisturizer AND primer can go a long way. Your skin needs moisture regardless of the climate, temperature, and season. Trust me when I say it’s just as important to moisturize in the summer as it is in the winter. Change up your routine with an oil free mattifying moisturizer. Keep your skin hydrated but reduce the appearance of moisture on the surface of your skin. Mattifying primers are a given this time of year. Anything to help reduce the appearance of oil and moisture will help your foundation last all day. Check out:

2. Powder Foundations
Ditch the liquid and reach for the powders. Opt for mineral based, or all natural products for the best results. Powders will last longer on oily skin and limit the risk of looking streaky. Plus summer is the time of year where we tend to go light on the foundation so a nice sheer dusting of setting powder or foundation on the face can give you the perfect amount of coverage. Check out:
3. Setting Sprays
You likely think that a setting spray may not be the best thing to add to your face if you’re already experiencing oil. But these products help to set and keep the oil away by forming a light barrier on the surface of the skin all while giving your skin the ability to breathe. They also help control color loss and the temperature of your skin as well. Seriously, who doesn’t want all day makeup without the hassle of waterproof makeup that never seems to come off? Check out:
