Free People’s August catalog came in the mail the other day and I was super excited to see my girl crush Phoebe Tonkin inside looking delightfully gorgeous, but ready for the end of summer. We’re getting there…sadly. It’s time for fall fashions to fill all the stores and for the rest of us to get as much use out of our summer threads as possible before the leaves start to fall. I’m in denial that it’s already August, and still want to buy cute tees and sandals but at the same time I’m conflicted about all the really pretty fall styles already showing up. So do I spend my money on things to wear now or later?
The best of both worlds is to have pieces that we can take from summer into fall, like tunics you can wear now with sandals and later with boots. That’s kinda what I’m thinking about doing, although I still have my eye on the perfect fall accessories because I don’t want to miss out on those. The hats, the boots, the tights. My two favorite styles for fall are floaty tunic-like dresses with boots, and short mini skirts, tights, and boots. Basically bring on the boots. I’m still searching for the perfect over the knee boot that’s flattering for a 5’5″ person. We’ll see what happens. What trend are you most excited about this coming season?
Sweet Thing Printed Tunic – If Phoebe Tonkin is wearing it, it must be great! This gorgeous paisley tunic will look so amazing right now with gladiator sandals and then with boots and tights for fall. Heart eyes all around.
Sloane Hooded Wrap Cardi – It’s time to bundle! Ok no, not quite yet. But come fall you will want a seriously cozy, epic sweater like this one.
Last Kiss Blouse – Black lace! Flared sleeves! It’s like witchy ’70s style rolled into one beautiful blouse. Tucked or untucked this blouse is stunning.
Warrior Babe Tunic – My tunic obsession this summer has not ceased and this one is absolutely perfect. From the warrior chick vibe to the comfy bra style band around the chest, this has me drooling.
Westend Lace Cuff Tight – Fall is coming which means tights! Gotta love this cheeky lace knee-high look. This will be perfect with over the knee boot styles where the tights will peek out of the top of the boot.
Lachlan Over The Knee Boot – The over the knee boot trend is still going strong this fall so bring on the drama. The boots are super sexy and despite having a wide top are nicely fitted. They also come in black! :)
Velvet Wide Brim Hat – Last year Free People featured a similar wide brim hat in a vibrant blue, which this hat also comes in, but I had to show the burgundy version which is perfectly moody.
