I couldn’t finish August’s HSWI without discussing fall-ready shirtdresses. We’re close to the end of summer and this is definitely a trend that you can take into colder months so I figured, why not explore two popular shirtdress styles for fall – plaid and olive. These looks are not limited to the print or shade chosen but are timeless and if worn right, will last you through the new year. They’ve got seasonal versatility, a must for the coming weeks while the weather is still figuring out if it’s summer or fall. The outfits below can be layered up to your desire, and look great with jackets and booties or really anything black and leather.
The plaid shirtdress. It had to make an appearance this month because it’s essential. If plaid is not in your arsenal this year, get some. It’s always a great choice because it’s both casual and cute and by adding a tough leather jacket, sheer tights, and booties you get that cool girl look for fall. A bit punk, a bit prep. For daytime excursions, add a cross body bag, trusty shades, and some cheeky jewelry. Gotta love a good funky ring, especially one that says, ‘Taco’.
Bring on the army green this fall. It’s pretty much a staple at this point but it’s especially popular this year and a silky shirtdress is a great way to balance out the look. Olive pairs so well with colors it’s almost a neutral, but I wanted sleek so I went for black. This outfit is extremely chic, with leather leggings, pointy pumps, and a sturdy clutch. To bring some softness to the outfit, we have gorgeous sunnies with rosy brown lenses, a stunning suede strap watch, and black pavé bracelet.
