How She’d Wear It with Style and Cheek – High Waisted Mini Skirts

Now is the perfect time to wear high waisted mini skirts. The weather is that right temperature where you could still go bare leg and your shoe options aren’t limited to boots or booties (yet). We’ll most definitely revisit mini skirts later in the year, but our trend this month is “high waist” pieces so we had to talk high waisted mini skirts here.

There’s one high waist piece that’s been dominating all summer, which I didn’t explore here today but still think is majorly cute, and it’s the denim button front mini skirt. We can thank Alexa Chung for that and certainly look to her for inspiration on how to wear button down high waisted mini skirts. It helps that there are some really cute options out there. I went for a rust colored cord version because it felt wonderfully ’70s. And remember, if you’re aren’t in with the button design, there are plain skirts like the black skirt featured below with the same high waisted cut.

1. TOPSHOP Stripe Tipped Trim Crop Top

2. TOPSHOP Cord Button Front A-Line Skirt

3. TOPSHOP KINGDOM 2 Ghillie Shoes

4. Rebecca Minkoff Front To Back Cone Earrings

5. ELECTRIC ’40FIVE’ 50mm Retro Sunglasses

6. Gorjana Cersi Layered Necklace

7. Nixon Kensington Leather Watch

8. Zara Oval Messenger Bag

Modern day ’70s style is what we’re going for with this cord button front mini skirt. The brick red just screams for something yellow and what better to pair with a high waisted mini skirt than a cropped knit top? The proportions are just right. And to make it more 2015 than 1970, we have super cute lace up flats which will be your go-to while the weather’s still warm. But what we really needed for this outfit, besides that green oval bag, is some bling, subtle but get the job done bling. A nice, large watch, some gold jewelry, and my favorite – nude retro sunnies.

9. Zara High Heel Leather Ankle Boots with Pull Tab

I just couldn’t resist that soft black mini skirt. It’s too gorgeous. And what pairs well with a sexy black mini skirt? A tie-neck blouse. Two sensual pieces coming together to make a beautiful outfit that fits right in with the ever popular black and white trend. Big chunky rings, a berry colored fringe bag, and mirrored white tortoise sunglasses give this look a little boho flair. Now let’s talk boots because nothing complements a mini skirt like a great pair of boots. These ankle boots with the pull tab add just the right amount of toughness to a romantic outfit.
