I’ve featured flared jeans quite a bit in HSWI posts, as much as any other trend. With 1970s styled looks making a major comeback, flare jeans are quickly becoming the jean to wear. Today I’m showcasing some high rise flare jeans which amp up the 70s flavor even more. Buh-bye skinnies, hello flares! Yep, for those who love retro style anyway. I’ve always found the voluminous flare jean to be too dramatic for myself and yet I regularly love outfits that feature them, especially the high rise variety with cropped sweaters and boots. It’s a really cute look and one that demands some sort of heel. We don’t want bunched, saggy flares, we want flares with flare! So wear heels, either boots or pumps or sandals with some height to give that leg and booty some lift.
For this look I decided to channel Dennis Hopper from Easy Rider. The patterned blouse and suede western jacket are full on ’70s fun. But instead of motorcycle rallies, this outfit is best suited for a day of shopping or a night to the movies. Add some sassy red fringed booties, a few unique pieces of jewelry with mixed metallics or a few stone rings and go the colorful route to really indulge in that retro style.
This will be your go-to fall outfit. With a fitted sweater, high rise flare jeans, stacked heel boots, and a great coat, you’ll come back to this look again and again. We went for a cropped sweater here to show off the high rise jeans but it would look equally cute with an oversized sweater. The satchel features a top handle and shoulder strap for easy use and the accessories are simple but pretty, with a long Y pendant style necklace, leather strap watch, and gold rings and bracelet.
