We couldn’t do a post about high rise flares and not talk about high rise skinny jeans. Sure, ’70s style is in and flare jeans will always be around but some of us, me included, like our jeans tight from our booty down to our ankles. We’re talking legs for days! You cannot deny the rock-girl attitude that comes with a great pair of high rise skinny jeans. So good news for us skinny jeans fan, we too can enjoy the high rise trend without sacrificing that feel-good fit. My favorite high rise skinny jeans are from Madewell. I didn’t feature them today but Madewell has the best high rise skinny jeans in a variety of rises, rinses, and prints (plaid, anyone?). Anyway, today I went with a classic blue jean and the epitome of rocker chic, black skinnies.

Print! Texture! These are two things that can take a blouse and high rise skinny jeans and elevate an otherwise simple outfit. We have floral, snakeskin, pony hair, and metallic for a unique mix. The variety of textures with neutral complementary pieces centers the attention on the blouse and makes for a very pretty combination. What’s great about a pair of black high rise skinny jeans is that while they might not have a high shine finish, they evoke that retro bad girl vibe. Think Sandy when she changes up her good girl look at the end of Grease.

It would be so nice to spend all of fall in this outfit. Easily dressed up with d’Orsay pumps and delicate gold jewelry, this look is both comfortable and sophisticated with a comfy sweater, blue jeans, and drapey coat. Add a large gold watch and mirrored tortoise shell sunglasses for drama and you’re ready for an early outdoor happy hour. This is the type of casual but not-too-casual outfit you’ll want in your closet.
