I’m trying something different with these How She’d Wear it posts. I’ve been feeling less excited than usual about constructing HSWI collages and Jamie agreed that it is time to experiment. So, let me know what you think of the style of this post versus the in-depth collages that I’ve done for so long. As always I appreciate whatever feedback you have about HSWI and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk velvet blazers. Of all the velvet pieces out there, a blazer is probably the easiest to style. It can go with jeans, trousers, dresses, be dressed up or dressed down. It’s just like any other blazer however, the velvet changes the vibe to more vintagey, rock n roll, or even romantic. The color of the velvet and style of blazer, like slouchy versus tuxedo style, can also change the look. Black is easiest because it will go with everything but it’s also a little fancier than your regular black blazer. It’s a classic choice, but today I styled two colored velvet blazers instead because if you’re going for velvet then you might as well go the fun route.

3. Iona Crossbody from Moorea Seal
4. J Brand 9022 Georgia Distressed Mid-Rise Slim Boyfriend Jeans
5. TOPSHOP Premium Velvet Tuxe Jacket
6. Madewell Dot Stick Stacking Ring
7. Masha Moon Nina Ring
8. Masha Moon Uli Ring

This look is full rocker style with a velvety hint of Kate Moss. Instead of a leather jacket paired with your classic white tee and jeans, you’re going with velvet, which is softer, more hippie-ish than your tough black leather. The attitude is still there, but it’s more inviting. While I picked a distressed jean to match the inspiration photo, you can wear anything from skinny jeans to flares for this look, but this shows you how to wear your boyfriend jeans in fall. To keep with the laidback feeling of this outfit, go for a brown bag instead of black to contrast with your boots and add some simple gold jewelry, the more gold rings the better.
2. Luv Aj Pave Pointe Ear Pins
4. Slate & Willow Copper Fleur Shift
5. Wolford Ind. 100 Leg Support Opaque Tights
6. J.Crew Adele Suede Ankle Boots
7. ZAC Zac Posen Eartha Micro Accordion Cross Body Bag
This is the perfect time to talk about velvet blazers because the holidays are coming and it’s dress up time! Regular blazers are often worn over dresses but a velvet blazer is so much more festive and exciting, especially for vintage or embellished dresses. I wanted to style this so it could work for a fancy day or night look so I chose some gorgeous booties and a crossbody bag. Dressy casual night looks with super embellished pieces paired with more casual bags are the thing right now so embrace it. Add a little bit of bling and you’re ready to hit that holiday party in style.
