Beauty Basics – Holiday Nail and Lip Combos

By Wednesday, November 11, 2015 2 Permalink

Last year I was all about mixing the colors for the perfect nail/lip combos. This year I’m finding myself gravitating towards similar hues for my lipstick and nail color looks. Oxblood nails are finding themselves paired with oxblood, deep moody lips. Soft blush pink lips are being paired with neutral blush nails. There’s just something about the matchy look this season that I’m really loving.

During my Fall Must Have Lips post I was also experimenting with new nail colors for myself on the side. I didn’t think anything of it at the time until Julia mentioned another nail/lip combo post and I instantly knew what to pair together. Unplanned color experimenting found itself in this post with some of the best color combos of the season. Get your Holiday Nail and Lip Combos ready!

Holiday Nail and Lip Combos - Pale Pinks/Mauves | Beauty Basics

Bare Minerals Rebel // Julep Malala

If you’re one to shy away from color, this neutral pale pink/mauve combo is for you. JULEP’s Malala is a color I have coveted for quite some time. I recently was able to find it through their site and snag myself a bottle. It’s hard to find and is one of the cult classics from the line. Why? Because it’s this perfect mauve-pinkish shade without being too purple or too bubblegum pink. It’s the rebellious sister to a nude flesh tone color. And we all know I love Bare Minerals so their moxie gloss in ‘Rebel’ is a perfect match for this nail color.

Holiday Nail and Lip Combos - Plums | Beauty Basics

MAC Rebel // Deborah Lippmann Queen Vic

Queen Vic is a color that I am OBSESSED with. About every other week I’m applying this color to my toes or nails, switching it up but then always resorting back to this color because of how great it looks. I paired it with the MAC ‘Rebel’ lipstick accidentally one day and was completely surprised about how identical they are. Of course if you over apply the lipstick it will be deeper in tone than the polish. But as it wears and when you blot these two are twins that you don’t want to miss out on.

Holiday Nail and Lip Combos - True Reds | Beauty Basics

MAC Ruby Woo // Dior 999

Those true holiday reds! MAC’s Ruby Woo is a cult favorite for the red obsessed. It’s the perfect red that isn’t too brown, isn’t too orange, and isn’t too purple. Did I already say it was perfect? Pairing this with the Dior #999 red nail color and you have the perfect true red combo. If there was ever a match made in heaven, then it’s these two colors. Those that have tried Dior’s #999 will tell you it’s the perfect red. I guess the takeaway from this combo is that it’s perfect? A must-have for the holidays.

Holiday Nail and Lip Combos - Deep Reds | Beauty Basics

Rimmel 107 // essie Bordeaux

This Rimmel lip color made it into my Must Haves post and I’m still wearing it. I was surprised at the compliments/comments from the post about how great it looked on me. Thanks! I was a little borderline iffy on it because I’m not a normal lip color wearer but I braved through and now it’s one of my favorites. I recently picked up essie’s Bordeaux and found that these two are a great combination. Like two best friends that brunch together and know how to bring out the best in each other when they are a few mimosas in.

Holiday Nail and Lip Combos - Vampy Colors | Beauty Basics

Kat Von D Damned Cherry // OPI Lincoln Park After Dark

This is one color combo that I’m always leary of but willing to try. Kat Von D has a great line of lip colors and is known for the dark, vampy colors. Damned Cherry is a deep, rich cherry lip stain that will give you staying power and color pay off. When paired with OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark it makes for the best moody, vampy, sexy combo. I’ve been a fan of Lincoln Park After Dark for years. It used to be my go-to fall nail color because of how rich the color is. This combination is for those that dare to be brave and go extreme with their lip color.
