If you’re looking for a new dress to wear this fall or holiday season, how about a velvet dress? I know the best way to convince you to go velvet for that next date or for the big holiday party is to remind you how touchable you’ll be, and how sexy you’ll feel. Velvet is one of the most touchable fabrics out there, evoking sensuality as well as coziness. Plus, a velvet dress will make you feel so rich and luxurious. Don’t worry though; with the two styles I have today you won’t look in any way dowdy. No, we want feminine, powerful, and beautiful. Velvet looks great alongside other statement fabrics and appliqués such as brocade, sequins, fur, feathers, so if you’re going to commit to a velvet dress you might as well go all out with the glitz and glam.

Oh so glamorous! I love this look. It’s chic and luxurious with the oh so touchable velvet dress and fur stole. Both of which pair wonderfully with a classic camel belted coat. Now you can go all out with rings, but I chose a big ol’ cocktail ring and paired it with an even bigger gold cuff bracelet, as well as a layered necklace. Keeping the jewelry on the natural side, like a hammered cuff or stone or crystal pieces, gives the look a little boho flavor without detracting from the glamour.

I really hoped I could find a blue velvet dress to fully copy Alexa Chung’s stunner outfit here but black was all I could find. Thankfully this dress is still insanely cute but if you happen to find blue, go for it! To compliment the black, I went with a wine colored wallet bag, and brought in some gold details. The idea here is to go minimalist. Alexa Chung makes the dress the statement piece with just a bag to momentarily distract you, and wears no jewelry. However, I brought in a few accessories to make the outfit feel more complete like a tiny bar ring and some ear cuffs. To finish off the look don’t forget Alexa’s signature cat eye liner and you’ll have yourself a low-key, sexy party outfit.
