To kickoff the 2016 Recreate The Look series I thought it would be best to showcase something that is seasonally appropriate. Simple, soft faces, and bold lips. This is a look I have been rocking lately because I have less and less time to get ready but still want my look to pack a punch of color. Bold lips (my new favorite) are the easiest way to make it appear you have put effort into your makeup without doing much. That’s exactly why I wanted to recreate this look from the Carolina Herrera Fall 2015 show. Sure the dresses are a bit more than you would wear on a daily basis but the look is a simple recreation that will take you 5-10 minutes tops!
Since this look showcases the lips, the face should be quick and easy. Depending on where you are with your skin this time of year, you can opt for something lightweight like a BB cream or go full coverage. Next it’s about highlighting your features and using MAC Soft & Gentle is the perfect product to give the right amount of shimmer and highlight to your skin. Apply this to your brow bone, bridge of the nose, and of course the tops of your cheekbones. Finish off with a hint of color on the cheeks using NARS Orgasm Blush.
This look created a very wet, eye look and that’s not something I want to personally wear everyday. Sure if you want, apply a bit of clear lip gloss on your lids but otherwise skip the step. Instead you can opt for a light glitter or shimmer to give the appearance of the “sheen and wet” look. I would recommend the NYX Roll On Shimmer to eliminate a crazy glitter mess and it has just the right amount of shimmer. You can finish off with false lashes or apply a thin layer of gel liner right up onto the lash line and a few coats of mascara.
Now that we are about 5 minutes into the routine, it’s time to finish off with the lips. Matte lips are popular right now so we are going to opt for a matte lip color. The exact color used in the show was MAC’s Retro Liquid Matte in Oh, Lady! If you want something similar you can use MAC Rebel or Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Scrooge.
