The one thing I was really excited about this year was bringing more tutorials to Beauty Basics. I want to show off easy hair and makeup looks without creating super long videos with too much instruction. To kickoff some new tutorials I’ll be showing you how to create a soft and flirty Valentine’s Day makeup look.
Making dinner reservations and deciding on what to wear should be your top priority, not deciding what makeup look to go with. We typically don’t go all out on this holiday and celebrate the week before to beat the crowds. I’m not one to get too mushy for Valentine’s Day but I love the idea of spreading love and joy and it gives me a reason to be extra girly. This look is a soft and flirty makeup look that is great for anyone. A soft pink lip, a little bit of a bronze eye, and a basic complexion keeps it easy and effortless.
Chances are you have most of the products in your collection but if not I’ll share links below to where you can find the pieces I used. Don’t think you have to spend a fortune because as luck would have it, some of these are drugstore finds. Just one more reason why you need to go to Target!
Step 1: Complete your base and concealer and jump straight to the eyes. Apply a cream base or eye primer to prep your lids. Using Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded, smooth onto the lids and blend softly into the crease.
Step 2: Use a tapered shadow brush to keep the shadow from being too pigmented and heavy. Using BareMinerals Champagne Glimpse or Buxom Champagne Buzz Shadow, blend all over the entire eye up to the brow bone. We’re going for a soft look here.
Step 3: With a fluffy blending brush, apply a shimmery nude color, such as Laura Geller’s Baked Highlighter in French Vanilla, to the brow bone and inner corner of the eye.
Step 4: To keep this soft we are ditching the black liner. Instead opt for a cocoa or bronze and line the upper lash line. I used a wet angled liner brush and Darkhorse from my NAKED palette.
Step 5: Apply mascara to the upper and lower lash lines. I’m using L’oreal Voluminous Mascara in Black.
Step 6: Apply bronzer to the cheekbones, forehead, temples, and nose using an angled brush. My current favorite is Sonia Kashuk Bronzer in Golden. It has a nice shimmer to it and the color isn’t too dark. Beware because it is a loose bronzer and it tends to make a mess.
Step 7: With a light hand, apply Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick in Rose, with a duo fiber brush, onto the apples of the cheeks.
Step 8: Line your lips with Rimmel London’s Eastend Snob and fill in with NARS Babydoll Gloss
Curl your hair up, get fancy with it and enjoy a little date night with your lover. Or celebrate with a box of chocolates on the couch binge watching your favorite Netflix show.
