Since February is so centered on romance, it felt right to discuss date night sequins. These aren’t your NYE styled outfits. They’re on the more casual side, with one being edgier and one being more feminine. Both are still great options for a romantic dinner out, but I say that if you’re going to wear sequins for a date you should pair it with more casual pieces. In this case a cozy sweater with a sequin dress tempers the sparkly impact just a bit so the look isn’t too over the top. And a striped tee is the right juxtaposition of a classic casual piece to complement a fun sequin skirt.
The exception to this rule of combo’ing sequins with casual is when the sequined piece is already pretty casual, like with sequined joggers or sweatpants because the sparkly fun is already on casual pants. In this case you would want to pair the sequined sweatpants with a pretty blouse or nice fitted sweater to dress things up. You’re looking for that balance between super fancy NYE style and casual every day wear. These two looks are a great place for you to start.

Sparkle instantly makes an outfit feel special. A very sparkly, very sexy dress is dressed down by pairing it with a cozy sweater for a romantic but more relaxed look. Somehow the sweater makes the outfit feel more intimate even as it covers you up a bit. While sequins are fun, they’re not exactly the most touchable material, whereas a sweater invites snuggling. All you need is some super flirty platform sandals and a bunch of delicate jewelry (and I do mean a bunch) to create a laidback flirty boho vibe.

It’s all a matter of tracking down the perfect sequined mini skirt. But if you’re going to wear this slightly casual outfit on a date, go with your best jewels and your most quality baubles. It’s the complementary pieces that will set the tone and tell people that you’ve got it together, especially when you’re building your look around a super casual piece like a t-shirt.
