Pretty blouses are the one item that my closet can’t get enough of. Call me obsessed but my wardrobe is just not there yet with romantic options for me to show off on a whim. Is that asking too much? I don’t work in an office anymore, so buttoned up blouses and business casual pieces feel out of place and unnecessarily fussy.
In fact, I spend so much time at home that I delight in “going out”, often to parties, blog events, or nice dinners. These occasions all require something a little extra to feel slightly festive. As a girl who often spends whole days in loungewear and who has relied on more than her fair share of casual striped shirts in the past, a hyper-feminine blouse with a ruffle or bit of lace is a welcome addition. Maybe I’ve drank up too much of the prairie trend kool-aid, but I just don’t want my outfits to feel boring anymore. Who’s with me?
You may have noticed that my recent outfit posts have featured some really fun blouses as the showstopping piece. As I get more comfortable with my body I’m getting a little more playful and little more risqué, which is quite fine for date night dinners out. And I’ve found that one of the best places for this style of blouse is Free People. And thankfully Free People has an abundance of romantic blouses of all shapes and styles. They have the right amount of detail, originality, colors, and sexiness to get that impact I’m looking for in a pretty blouse.
In the past few months I’ve had great luck finding blouses on sale as well which is really all about trying on everything even remotely cute. I’m not always patient however and will undoubtedly buy things full price, but occasionally things work out. It’s just that Free People has such unique pieces that once I find something that really looks great I don’t want to miss out on it. Like the burgundy ruffled top below. That might be at the top of my list.
Free People Yours Truly Ruffle Top – I usually shy away from ruffles but I love this top largely because of the color, but the details are just right. There are ruffles and big bell sleeves but the top doesn’t have too much fabric. Gorgeous!
Free People Nouveau Top – The colors, the print, the lace, even the mock neck are all understated romantic. This is a really comfortable top with just the right amount of detail to make it feel special.
Free People Molly Ruffle Buttondown Top – I immediately fell in love with this top when I saw it. The ruffles are wonderfully outrageous and that green! Buttoned up it looks a little too Victorian for my taste but unbuttoned is subtly sexy.
Free People Stay Together Dot Blouse – The swiss dot design makes this blouse look so touchable. And the open front detail and adjustable tie waist are provocative fun.
Free People Silver Soul Peasant Top – This blouse is totally embracing the prairie style but with a modern touch by going navy instead of white. I love the romantic details on this one from the buttons to the slightly puffed sleeves.
Free People Fever Dream Wrap Top – Oh the ballerina vibes. Here’s another top that looks oh-so-touchable. Just a wonderfully soft modal wrap top perfect for day or night.
Free People Modern Muse Tie Front Top – This feels very much like a poet blouse but with less flounce. I love a good tie neck blouse. And while I feel this is a classic choice, they also carry it in this gorgeous vibrant blue.
Free People Be Mine Lace Top – Surprisingly, this is the only black blouse that I thought was romantic enough for this post. Of course that’s because it’s all lace and even has a ruffle detail across the chest. P.S. this one is on sale so get on it quick if you like it!
